We now see a more carbon intensive RSM, which is 4.46% higher than the NSM. The gap between the two has widened from 3.14% the previous year. As these figures continue to diverge, non-certifying businesses face higher reported scope 2 emissions.

More and more, businesses are being asked to measure, report and reduce their emissions. In some cases, businesses can achieve these reductions themselves – by planning fewer plane trips, doing more video-conferences, etc.

People interested in either buying or selling a New Zealand energy certificate (NZ-EC) for the first time often ask the same question, “What is a fair price for an NZ-EC?”

Certified Energy will be trialling the calculation and presentation of a monthly Residual Supply Mix – summarising the nature of electricity generated and supplied to consumers via the national grid in each month.
